The Dumpling Festivals

The Duanwu Festival is a Chinese traditional and statutory holiday. It is a public holiday in Mainland China and Taiwan, where it is called the "Duanwu Jie" and a public holiday in Hong Kong and Macau, where it is called the "Tuen Ng Jit". In English it is also referred to as "Dragon Boat Festival", after one of the traditional activities for the holiday.

The Duanwu Festival occurs on the fifth day of the fifth month of the Chinese calendar, giving rise to the alternative name of Double Fifth. In 2009, this falls on May 28. The focus of the celebrations includes eating ZongZi (AKA Chimaki ちまき in Japanese), which are large rice wraps, drinking realgar wine, and racing dragon boats.

The best-known traditional story holds that the festival commemorates the death of poet Qu Yuan (340 BC - 278 BC) of the ancient state of Chu, in the Warring States Period of the Zhou Dynasty. A descendant of the Chu royal house, Qu served in high offices. However, when the king decided to ally with the increasingly powerful state of Qin, Qu was banished for opposing the alliance. Qu Yuan was accused of treason. During his exile, Qu Yuan wrote a great deal of poetry, for which he is now remembered. Twenty-eight years later, Qin conquered the Chu capital. How we Chinese celebrates it? Traditionally people went to the beach to throw dumpling into the sea to feed the fish will eat the dumpling instead of Qu Yuan's body! Now some still does it traditionally and treat this day as a rememberance day for Qu Yuan, but me... and i bet so does all of you who celebrates this festivals out there does the same, we just go to the beach for the FUN & CROWDS! We don't "throw" away food into the sea, but at least we still know the story behind this festival... Muahaha...after a whole afternoon of fun at the beach will be followed by a big meal at night where family / friends gathers around and eat a grand meal. That is all so gonna happen later on and i DO HOPE IT WON'T RAIN! =.= SEE YOU GUYS @ THE BEACH LATER~!

1st of all I'd like to apologize to those who have left comments in the comment section for my previous post, because i was so used to just talk in the chat box, I totally forgot about the comment section!

2ndly is I was thinking of a way to remove the "MY FOLLOWERS" widget from my sidebar but there is always an error that prevents me from doing it. I thought I'd mess with the HTML abit and figure out what is wrong. My very big mistake was to not backup my old template before i proceed so i ended up destroying the whole thing while doing the HTML editing =( No choice but to re-do a new layout. It looks Kinna...i dunno.. shrinked..lol.. so not used to it. Also I've decreased the sidebar from a 200px to 160px and for those ADs, I'm just too lazy to do a HQ resize again so all i did was an LQ resize and it looks kinna gay now...That's about it for now. G'Nitez people~*

Plans Changed, Since I'm more into Japanese animation & figures, I'd rather join AFA09 instead of STCCG. Just received a mail from Ms.Jenny (Event Manager of AFA) that the date has been confirmed on Nov 21th - 22nd @ Suntec Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Centre; Hall 403 - 404. MAY'N & ICHIROU MIZUKI performed in AFA08 and promised we stand a chance of JAM Project coming over to serenade our ears at AFA09! W00t! This is going to be my very 1st Anime Cons....Sibeh excited! XD. Below are some pics of AFA08 held last year! By the way, they are still working on AFA09 website and waiting for the confirmation of the guest stars! It should be up and running by the end of June.
